Hello my Friends,
Thank you for visiting. Thank you to those of you who are new to the website or checking it out again. I appreciate it.
Chris and I have been on vacation the last two weeks and we have some thoughts and photos we would like to share with you. We spent some time up in northern New Hampshire exploring some of the wonderful scenic vistas, trails, waterfalls and lakes. Then to the ocean (Seabrook, NH), to get into the salty brine of the sea, from where we all came. Of course, we travel with Rika and Sam whenever we go away from the hustle and bustle of Massachusetts.
I have to tell you about the lack of light pollution in areas that are isolated and much less populated. Whenever we get out into the woods, the spectacular beauty of the night sky reveals itself to us. We are always stunned and amazed by the sheer volume of stars that we are able to see. At home we are only able to see planets and the very brightest stars. I wish I had some pictures to show you, but again, I have not taken any great photos of the night sky yet, or at least ones I would show on the website.
Here is another thing that just pops right out to us: the incredible smells of fresh air, crystal clear, clean water, wildflowers and pine. It amazes me to no end how wonderful to be free of car and truck exhaust, as well as noise and light pollution. It is so quiet, that the only sounds we hear are the sounds of wind rustling in the breeze and the Pemigewassett River rushing to meet the Winnipesaukee River to become the Merrimack, and then on to the sea. Which is where we go next.
Not two miles from the mouth of the Merrimack, the waves in Seabrook are huge. Sam and Rika run into the waves and quickly retreat. It is as if they respect the power of the ocean like I do. I do think that they are very smart. Unlike the children down toward Salisbury, they never get knocked over by the tide. Lots of surfers are in the water waiting as the incoming high tide rolls in. I body surf alone, moving out beyond the breaks so I can float for a while. Then I body surf the big ones until I can't breath any more. The dogs make friends with dogs and humans and are now the kings of the beach. I feel like a different person than the one that went on vacation two weeks ago.
Enjoy the Photos.
Bye for now,
Peace to All, Bob
