Feels like Autumn

Hello My Friends,

Thank you for checking in. It has been a long hot summer in the Northeast. We had many days with temperature in the 90's. We have severe drought conditions and watering bans. The grass is definitely not green. However, things are looking up. We had a soaking rain twice this week and the vegetables are growing again. We lost the last of the cucumbers and the eggplant, but the zucchini and the tomatoes are growing nicely. We have one huge pumpkin, and a number of smaller ones. All in all, I thought we did quite well under the circumstances. I promised pictures for Mary Ellen Grace, so here are some new pictures for Mary Ellen and for all of you.

Take Care and Take Pictures.

Zero Degrees

Hello My Friends,

Thank you for visiting my blog. This is where I post my new photos. I hope you enjoy the pics.

Winter has finally grabbed us by the throat. Like you couldn't see that one coming. After a lovely fall and a mild January, the cold and snow has hit the fan. The last few weeks we had a few snowstorms, the day time temperatures were below freezing and the winds were whipping through the trees. Tonight's forecast is below zero temperatures and winds up to 30 mph. The wind chill will be minus 30 degrees. It is dangerously cold. So I suggest that you take some time to light a fire, hunker down and stay warm with your family. Turn off the TV. Read, listen to music. Make some music. Soon enough the days will be longer, the sun will be warming us again and we will have survived another winter.

I wish you all a great February. Get out in the woods when the weather allows. Get out on the pond to skate if you can. Bring your phone out in the forest, but don't look at it unless you have to. You might miss the owl, a Cooper's hawk or the beaver. See you all soon.

Glorious Autumn

Hello My Friends,

Thank you for visiting my photo blog. I regularly post about twice a month to share new pictures taken  in and around New England. Right now, Fall is now in full color above Concord. I was up in Plymouth, NH this past weekend and the colors were absolutely brilliant. I suggest you head up North during the week to avoid the crowds. Here in Methuen, things are coming along slowly. The best colors are around the ponds, rivers and marshes. The more magnificent shades will be here very shortly. Get out early in the day through the afternoon, the gloaming comes fast this time of year. Here are some new pics that I took this weekend. As always, take care and take pictures. I would also be glad to post your photos here if you would like to share.

Bye for Now, Bob

The Equinox

Hello My Friends,

Happy Equinox for all of my Friends and anyone who is in tune with the cycles of our lives. The angle of the sun is very low and the gloaming is apon us at 7:30 or so. The overnight temperatures are in the 40s and 50s, however the days are warm and there is no humidity to speak of. The garden is still producing very well. There are lots of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and Brussels sprouts to be harvested. There are large quantities of herbs. Lemon thyme, mint, basil and oregano plants are growing wildly in our space. The garden is aromatic. Summer is over by the date, but early Autumn can be absolutely glorious.
