Memorial Day

My Dear Friends,

Today I attended the Plaistow, NH Memorial Day Commemoration ceremonies on the Town Green. I was honored to be among the brave men and women that have served in our Armed Forces and all those in the close knit community that chose to attend the event. I am humbled by those who gave their lives in order for us to live freely in a Democratic society. Town Manager Sean R.Fitzgerald, US Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Governor Maggie Hassan, among others, made short remarks regarding the ultimate sacrifices that have been made by "ordinary" citizens during wartime. I will leave you some of the photographs that I took this morning. Today, I will count all of my blessings. Here is the link to the whole ceremony. http://vimeo.com/96549998

Remarks from the Post Commander
We would like to take this opportunity to remember the incredible cost paid by those who gave their all to help preserve the freedoms we enjoy, those gallant individuals who fought and died for our country. Yet, it is in remembering our fallen comrades that we are reminded of those whose fate is still unknown, those still listed as Missing In Action and Prisoners Of War. More than 78,000 Americans are still unaccounted for from World War II; 8,100 from Korea; 120 from the Cold War; 1,810 from Viet Nam; and 3 from the Gulf War. These courageous Americans, who dedicated their lives to preserving and protecting our freedom, will never be forgotten. To honor these men and women, we will perform the             POW/MIA Empty Chair Ceremony.

Those who have served and those currently serving in the uniformed
services of the United States are ever mindful that the sweetness of enduring peace has always been tainted by the bitterness of personal sacrifice. We are compelled to never forget that while we enjoy our daily pleasures, there are others who have endured and may still be enduring the agonies of pain, deprivation, and internment.
We call your attention to this small table which occupies a place of dignity and honor. It is being set for one, symbolizing the fact that members of our armed forces are missing from our ranks. They are referred to as POWs and MIAs.

We call them comrades. They are unable to be with their loved ones and
families, so we join together to pay our humble tribute to them, and to bear witness to their continued absence.

Day 12: 365 Days of Beauty

Hello My Friends,

I am still at it. One day at a time, and what a day it turned into. The temperature is 85 degrees in Methuen, MA USA (for my worldwide followers on the web 24.5 C)  The woods are filling in nicely. It is so green, creature from the Black Lagoon green. It is hard to see others out walking on the trails now. It feels more isolated and secluded, two things that the dogs and I like. Especially early in the morning, there is no one else there.

The picture that I posted today is a wildflower on the trails that we walk. It has about seven of those maroon colored triangular shaped flowers. I have kept my eye on them for the last few weeks waiting for them to bloom. They are pretty. That is all for now. See you tomorrow.

Another Day Another New Photo

Happy Mother's Day,

My mom passed away over twenty years ago, but there has never been a day that I have not thought about her. I was (and am) a very lucky man. Here is a picture of one of the two hawks that have been hanging around at the marsh near the house. One of these days, I will see him or her before they see me. I hope you like it.

Day Eight: 365 Day Photo Project

Hello Everybody,

Do you think it is easy taking new pictures and posting them every day for a year? Do you? Well, I have to tell you, it's not that bad. I carry my little point and shoot with me wherever I go now. I do spend a lot of time in the woods or on the rail trail with the dogs. There are plenty of photo ops in this area. I am also thinking about time lapse photography and other techniques that are interesting to try. At some point, I think I will take only black and white photos or some street scenes. Again, thank you for checking in. I will be posting tomorrow. I can't break the streak now.

365 Days of Beauty

Hey Everybody,

Thanks for visiting today. I appreciate it. I was out in the woods again this morning. I got some nice pics of a heron on the little pond down at the bottom of the hill. I did catch (figuratively) a hawk, as well, but it wasn't as sharp as I would have liked. I'll put it up anyway. There were some wild yellow tulips that caught my eye, too. Those are the ones I chose for photo of the day. I will put the other finalists in the right sidebar as thumbnails. Have a great day.

Hola Mi Amigos, Gracias por Visitar

Hello My Friends, Thank you for visiting

The day six photo of the 365 Days of Photography is a shot of the magnolia that is right across the street from our house (above).  If that seems a little lazy, try the 365 Day Photo Project for yourself. It is not nearly as easy as it looks. All new photos, every day, for a year. I am now thinking about what I should photograph, all the time.  I have to carry my little Sony around with me wherever I go. I do have plans for some time lapse photography real soon, maybe tonight,

See you tomorrow,
Bob

I will leave you with another one here. Adios y hasta pronto!

Cinco De Mayo

Hello my Friends,

Thanks for looking in on day five of 365 Days of Photographs. It was chilly and raw this morning, but the weather turned sunny and much warmer this afternoon. Of course, I took out Rika, Sam and Chris for a walk in the woods this morning when it was windy, dark and cold. I only had the little Sony point and shoot. I didn't want to carry the big guns (camera and lenses) out in the woods with the dogs. So, you can see what an inexpensive camera can do. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get great pictures and have some fun. That said, I still don't like the idea of the phone pictures, even though I know that there are some amazing cameras in the new phones. I digress. Any way, I got a nice comment on my blog from a young woman in Germany this morning. It was very nice. That made my day. There is a lot to be said about sharing our lives with people from all over the world. So, here are today's pictures. I couldn't choose just one. You can tell me which one you like best. -Bob

Day 3 - 365 Days of Photographs

Hello My Friends,

It is now day #3 of the 365 Days of Photographs Project. I promised you more photos for today and for every day at least until April 30, 2015. Let us see how I do over the course of the next 12 months. I promise: no "selfies". Really, do you want to see another stinking self portrait from another narcissist at arms length. No, neither do I. I will post at least one newly taken photograph every day. I will add some off my favorites as we go along.

Today I went out with my dogs, like I always do. You will probably get to know me a little better if you follow along this year. So here is a nice picture of them for you. I love the little buggers. They are so different, and have incredibly unique personalities. They also never call me names or swear.

Trees and flowers are popping nicely with this mild weather. so I have included a number of pics of the flora, too. I hope you like them. Keep in touch.

May 1, 2014

Hello My Friends,

Thank you for checking in to my website again. It looks as though Spring is finally here. I may be wrong about that, given the last five months of bad weather. So, let us celebrate the season and put the winter of 2013-'14 behind us. I will be uploading new photos every day. Things are really starting to pop. Here are some romunculus (?) plants at the top of the page, those are wild bleeding hearts at the bottom of the page. I hope you enjoy my photographs. There are a couple off azaleas, some cherry trees and a magnolia that I had my eyes on today. If it is nice and warm tomorrow I think I will have a lot of great pics for you. Bye for now.
